UV, or ultraviolet light, readily kills bacteria. Although you might not buy a UV adapter at first, if your local water becomes contaminated or there are warnings, it is then easy to install the UV. If you buy a filter whose company does not make a UV filter, or that does not have a good one, then you’re stuck.
